NeuroRTI’s Locomotor Training Principles and Practice Team Instructor Certification process is designed to provide the training and experience necessary to ensure standardization among all Introductory Locomotor Training onsite courses hosted at NeuroRTI approved locations across the country.
The Team Instructor is the individual who can assist at the hip and legs with the appropriate level of effort and amount of assistance while coordinating with other trainers that are at beginning levels of ability. The Team Instructor also provides feedback to participants regarding manual assistance including trainer position, patient position, hand placements, assisting the trunk, hip and legs and coordination of the trainers during stepping. Team Instructors may also integrate learning with question/answer discussions, group problem-solving, progression and other topics. The Team Instructor may be a physical therapist or experienced technician.
All applicants must have successfully completed an Introduction to Locomotor Training online and onsite course.
Participants working towards Team Instructor status will have an approved senior instructor observe and complete the required competency skills checklist. This checklist must be signed and submitted utilizing NeuroRTI’s online platform to receive final approval for the Team Instructor Certification.
Upon completion the Team Instructor will be able to participate in Introductory Locomotor Training courses as part of NeuroRTI’s approved instructors.
